“Older Americans make our community better every day. This May, let’s celebrate and support them in every way we can.”, says Stacey Johnson.
Each May, the nation celebrates Older Americans Month to recognize the vital role seniors play in our communities. At Your Insurance Gal Agency, we believe in honoring the experience, resilience, and contributions of older adults throughout Vancouver and all of Southwest Washington.
This year’s national theme is “Powered by Connection” which is a reminder that social connections and community involvement are critical to health and well-being.
Here’s how you can celebrate this special month:
- Engage: Attend local senior center activities, volunteer with a community group, or check in on a neighbor. Connection reduces loneliness and boosts mental health.
- Educate: Learn about Medicare benefits that support aging well. Did you know Medicare covers annual wellness visits, flu shots, and screenings for diabetes and depression?
- Empower: Share your story! Inspire others by talking about your retirement journey, hobbies, and the wisdom you’ve gathered.
