“Wellness starts with knowledge and community. Let us be your partner in both.”, says Stacey Johnson.
Staying healthy isn’t just about doctor visits and prescriptions—it’s about community, nutrition, fitness, and emotional well-being. Fortunately, Vancouver and the surrounding Southwest Washington region are home to numerous resources that help Medicare recipients thrive.
At Your Insurance Gal Agency, we believe Medicare is just one piece of the wellness puzzle. That’s why we work to connect clients to services like:
- Vancouver Parks & Recreation Senior Programs: Offering group exercise classes, social meetups, art programs, and health workshops tailored for older adults.
- Meals on Wheels People: This incredible organization delivers nutritious meals and companionship to seniors who are homebound or unable to cook.
- Area Agency on Aging & Disabilities of Southwest Washington (AAADSW): Provides information on caregiving, housing, nutrition, and transportation. They offer valuable case management services for aging adults and people with disabilities.
We also recommend visiting your local community centers or libraries for free or low-cost classes and health screenings. Many of these services are covered under preventive benefits in Medicare plans.
Firstenberg & Marshall/Luepke Community Centers
These centers provide a variety of programs for seniors:
- Trapedero II: A drop-in space at Firstenberg Center offering coffee, conversation, books, puzzles, and cards. Open Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Luepke Center: Features table games like cards, cribbage, and mah-jongg. Open Monday–Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Senior Fitness Programs: Access to fitness centers, exercise classes, and pools. Seniors may qualify for free memberships through programs like SilverSneakers®, Silver&Fit®, and Renew Active.
- Afternoon Dances: Held monthly on the second Friday, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., featuring live music and light refreshments.
- Forever Young Hikes: Guided hikes ranging from easy to expert levels.
Your Insurance Gal Agency helps ensure that your Medicare plan works for your lifestyle. Some Medicare Advantage plans include fitness memberships, hearing and dental benefits, and transportation assistance—all tools that can help you stay independent and healthy.
