Medicare 2014-5 has come and gone and now I’m on to Individual health care Open Enrollment. If you have a plan through the WA Health Plan Finder or the former Cover Oregon you will need to go in and choose a new plan. Go into your dashboard at www.wahealthplanfinder.org and ensure that your income and household information is up to date. You can work your way through the application until you get to the point where you choose a plan. Look at the plans and if after perusing them they are still Greek… call me! We can usually take care of this in a phone appointment. If you find a plan you like you may choose it without my help as well. It just depends on your comfort level.
When you choose a plan by the 23rd of the month it will be effective the 1st of the next month. Eg. Dec. 23 for 1/1/15, Jan. 23 for 2/1/15. Don’t forget… Open Enrollment closes on February 15, 2015 so be sure to get your application taken care of well before then!
If you purchased individual insurance through the private marketplace then you may or may not want to make plan changes. It would depend on if you feel you are getting a good value for what your new premium is. Most plans took a 2-5% increase in premium.
